There are two ways to deal with a wet basement.

Almost every company in Middle Georgia sells the one on the right. It is faster, it is cheaper to install, and it never touches the reason the water is there.

What GRC does. Exterior.
OUTSIDE INSIDE DRY Nothing to pump. Nothing to run. 1 2 3 1 Membrane sealsthe outer face 2 Gravel backfillkeeps it moving 3 Drain at the footingcarries it away

Stop it at the wall

  • The wall is dug out and exposed all the way to the footing.
  • A waterproof membrane goes on the outside face of the wall.
  • Cracks get repaired while they are reachable.
  • A French drain and gravel backfill carry water away from the footing.
  • Hydrostatic pressure against the wall drops.
  • Nothing has to run, and nothing has to be maintained.
The common alternative. Interior.
OUTSIDE INSIDE SOIL NEVER TOUCHED WET, THEN PUMPED The water still gets in. A machine sends it back out. 1 2 3 1 Water comes inthrough the wall 2 Floor cut openfor a channel 3 Sump pumpneeds power

Let it in, then pump it

  • The soil against the wall is never touched.
  • Water still passes through the wall, by design.
  • The basement floor gets cut open for a perimeter channel.
  • A sump pump moves the water back outside.
  • The wall stays wet and the pressure stays on it.
  • The dry basement now depends on a pump and on the power staying on.

Their own words for it, and ours: we are real excavation experts, not patchwork fixers. Digging is harder, slower and more disruptive than drilling a hole in your slab. It is also the only version that removes the cause.

The water never gets in.

Membrane on the outside face, drain at the footing, gravel to keep it moving. Dry by design, not by machine.

Step 1 of 3

Wall sealing and coatings

Once the wall is exposed, the outer face gets a waterproof membrane and a protective coating. This is the layer that actually stops penetration. It only works on the outside, which is why the trench comes first.

Step 2 of 3

French drains and gravel backfill

A drain line at the footing takes water away from the house instead of letting it stand against the wall. Gravel backfill keeps the flow moving rather than trapping water in clay.

Step 3 of 3

Foundation repairs

Cracks get repaired while the wall is open and reachable. Doing this from inside means working against the pressure instead of removing it.

The order never changes.

No step gets dropped to hit a price. If your house does not need one, it comes off the quote and we tell you why.

GRC states "warrantied workmanship" and does not publish a term. Bear North has deliberately left this blank rather than invent a number. Confirm the real term and it drops straight in.

What people ask on the estimate.

An interior system does not stop water. It lets water come through the wall, catches it at the floor and pumps it back out. That leaves the wall wet, the hydrostatic pressure unchanged and your dry basement dependent on a pump and the power staying on. Exterior work removes the cause.

Clay holds water and swells. Around here that means a foundation sits in saturated soil for days after a storm and the pressure pushes water through any joint or crack it can find. That is why the fix belongs outside the wall, in the soil, not inside on the floor.

No, and we do not pretend otherwise. We clean surface mold in crawlspaces with a three step process. Remediation is a separate licensed scope. If what you have needs remediation, we will tell you that instead of selling you a cleaning.

Yes. Churches, historic buildings and commercial property are a regular part of the work, alongside houses. Older foundations usually need the exterior approach more than newer ones do.

Nothing. Estimates are free and the inspection comes with a plain explanation of what we found and what your options are, including the option to do nothing yet.
