Soft washing uses under 500 PSI, a fraction of what a pressure washer puts out, combined with a biodegradable cleaning solution that actually kills algae and mildew instead of just blasting it off the surface. That distinction matters more than it sounds: high pressure aimed at siding can force water in behind the panels, crack vinyl, strip paint off trim, or chip mortar joints on brick and stucco. The solution does the work; the rinse just carries it away.

We soft wash vinyl siding, fiber cement (Hardie board), brick, and stucco, and we soft wash asphalt shingle roofs the same careful way, low pressure only, since a pressure washer on a roof will knock granules loose and shorten its life. What looks like dirt on a roof or north-facing wall is almost always gloeocapsa magma, a black-streak algae that thrives in humidity and just keeps spreading until it's treated at the source.

Central Indiana's humid summers are exactly what that algae wants, which is why late spring through early summer is the busiest soft-washing window here, before the heat gets too intense for the solution to dwell properly. A fall wash before winter is the other common timing, especially for homes going into the holidays.
