About TK Fitness PGH
Twelve years on the floor, one client at a time.
TK Fitness PGH is a private training practice in Pittsburgh. No franchise, no sales floor, and nobody handing you off to a different trainer next month.
Tom K.
Twelve years of coaching people through weight loss, strength and conditioning, and training around old injuries, with clients of every age and starting point. NASM certified.
My own background runs through weight loss and strength training, and through combat sports: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai kickboxing. That background shapes how I coach. Combat sports teach you how fast a small joint problem ends training, so working around one is never an afterthought here, and losing weight yourself teaches you that a plan has to survive a bad week or it is not a plan.
Some clients do boxing work with me as conditioning, which is a genuinely good way to get your heart rate up without spending an hour on a treadmill.
How I work
- Every client gets a movement assessment before a program is written
- Habits built through education and accountability, not punishment
- Programming that works with your lifestyle instead of against it
- The same coach for the assessment, the program and every session
Where we train
A private studio in the Pittsburgh area, or online from wherever you are. The coaching does not change between them, and the consultation is free either way.
Why private, and not a gym floor
A big-box trainer is usually running two or three clients at once, or working from a program a software licence wrote. Neither leaves much room to watch a rep and change the plan mid-set. Private training costs more per hour and is worth it for one reason: the hour is genuinely yours.
It also means the person who assessed you is the person coaching you in month six. Nothing gets handed off, and nothing gets re-explained to somebody new.
What I do not do
Worth saying plainly, so nobody signs up for the wrong thing.
- No supplement sales, and no commission on anything you buy
- No guaranteed timelines on weight or strength. Anyone promising those is guessing
- No treating injuries. I train around them, alongside whoever is treating you, and I do not replace that person
- No large-group or bootcamp training. This is 1-on-1 work
Where to start
Most people start in the studio, where technique is easiest to sort out, and add programming for the days in between. If your schedule will not hold a fixed session, online coaching covers the same ground. Not sure? Say so on the contact page and I will tell you what I would pick.

The best project you will ever work on is you.

One conversation, then a plan.
The first step is a conversation, not a sales pitch. Phone, email or video call, whichever you prefer. You talk through your goal, your schedule and anything your body is currently unhappy about, and then you decide.
- A movement assessment before any program gets written
- In the studio in Pittsburgh, or coached online from anywhere
- The same coach every session, start to finish
