Private 1-on-1 training means nobody is splitting attention between you and two other clients. Every set gets watched, the load gets adjusted while you are still under the bar, and if you walk in with a sore shoulder the session changes to suit.
The studio itself is a private floor in the Pittsburgh area, with a rack, a barbell, plates, dumbbells and kettlebells. No queue for equipment, and no audience.
What the first session looks like
- A movement screen, so the program fits how you actually move
- A conversation about your training history, any injuries, and your week
- Enough real training to get a feel for load and pacing
- A clear answer on what the plan is and why
Custom programming, included
Training once a week with a coach and doing nothing else moves slowly, so the days in between get a written program. It is built around the days you genuinely have and the equipment you can reach, whether that is a full commercial gym or a rack in the basement.
- A weekly structure that matches your schedule rather than an ideal one
- Exercise selection filtered through your movement screen
- Sets, reps and progression, so you know when to add weight
- Substitutions for anything you do not have access to
Nutrition coaching, if you want it
Meal plans get abandoned in week two because they were written for somebody with a different job and a different kitchen. This works on habits instead: protein at each meal, portions that match the goal, and a short list of meals you would happily cook again. No supplements to buy.
Who it suits
People starting over, people coming back from an injury, and people who have trained for years without much to show for it. Twelve years of coaching across every age and starting point means the program begins where you are, not where a template assumes you are.
There is no commitment on in-studio training. Sessions are booked as you need them, and nothing carries over if you stop. If you would rather train on your own time, online coaching covers the same programming remotely, on a six-month basis.
Questions about this service
No, and most people who get in touch are not. Plenty are starting over, coming back from an injury, or have never worked with a coach before. The first session is an assessment rather than a test, and the first program is built for the body you have right now.
In a private studio in the Pittsburgh area. It is a real gym floor with a rack, a barbell, plates, dumbbells and kettlebells, and there is no crowd to work around. You get the exact address when you book.
Plenty of clients train once a week with Tom and handle the rest of the week on their own program. Twice a week moves faster. The honest answer is that the right frequency is the one you will actually keep, and that is worth talking through on the consultation.
A movement screen, a conversation about your history and your goal, and enough training to get a feel for how you move. You leave knowing what the plan is and why.
Yes, as coaching rather than a rigid meal plan. The work is habits, protein, portions and building meals you will actually cook again. There are no supplements to buy.
In-studio sessions are priced per hour, with no membership and nothing to sign. Online coaching is priced separately and runs on a six-month commitment. Tom will walk you through both on the consultation, which is free either way.

One conversation, then a plan.
The first step is a conversation, not a sales pitch. Phone, email or video call, whichever you prefer. You talk through your goal, your schedule and anything your body is currently unhappy about, and then you decide.
- A movement assessment before any program gets written
- In the studio in Pittsburgh, or coached online from anywhere
- The same coach every session, start to finish
