Academy. Where it all begins.

Unhurried, joyful classes in ballet, tap and jazz, built to grow confidence and coordination and a lifelong love of dance. No experience needed, ever. Her very first class is the one you will both remember.

What Academy actually is

The joy first. The technique follows.

Academy is the recreational heart of the studio, and it is where most Sterling Silver dancers spend their entire time with us.

There is no audition, no tryout and no expectation that she moves on to anything else. Classes run once a week through the season, she learns a routine, and in the spring she performs it on a real stage with real lights and a family in the seats.

What she is actually building is bigger than the routine. Coordination, yes. But also the nerve to walk into a room, the patience to be bad at something for a while, and a group of girls who save her a spot on the floor.

Five steps

Placement is by age and grade, not by ability. If she is new at any age, she starts with her own age group and the teacher brings her up to speed.

01

Tots with a Parent

Thirty joyful minutes with you on the floor beside her. Songs, scarves, marching and the very first idea that a studio is a happy place.

Ages 2 to 3
02

Creative Movement

Her first class on her own. Balance, rhythm, listening and taking turns, taught by teachers who are endlessly patient with brand-new little movers.

Ages 3 to 5
03

Primary Combo

Ballet and tap in one class, which is how most of our dancers begin. Real vocabulary, still entirely joyful, and a recital at the end of it.

Grades K to 2
04

Junior Academy

Technique starts to sharpen. She picks the disciplines she loves, adds a second class if she wants one, and starts to feel genuinely good at something.

Grades 3 to 5
05

Teen Academy

Recreational dance that stays recreational. For the dancer who wants the floor, the friendships and the recital without the competition calendar.

Grades 6 to 12

Nobody sits out the recital

There is no cut and no bench. Every Academy class performs in the spring recital, and every dancer gets her moment under the lights with her name in the program.

  • One costume per class, ordered in the winter
  • A dress rehearsal on the real stage before the show
  • Enroll for Season 36 and she receives a free recital shirt
  • Online access so grandparents can watch every showcase from anywhere
What parents ask first

The honest answers.

Does she need experience?

Never. Most of our dancers start with none at all. Every class meets beginners exactly where they are.

What does she wear?

For a trial class, anything she can move in. Once she enrolls there is a simple dress code by program, and we will send it to you.

Can I watch?

Yes. We have viewing into the studios, and we run watch weeks during the season so you can see what she has been building.

Her first class is complimentary

One hour. No commitment.

Book a free trial class, meet the teacher, and watch her from the viewing window. If she loves it, enrolling takes minutes. If she does not, you have lost an hour.
