Boiler Repair in Superior, WI & Duluth, MN
We speak fluent boiler.
Half this region heats with hot water. Cast iron radiators, in-floor loops, combi units. Our techs work on them every week, not once a season.
A boiler is not a furnace with water in it.
Plenty of shops will look at a hundred-year-old gravity system, shrug, and quote you a full forced-air conversion. That means new ductwork through a house that has none. Usually the honest answer is a proper repair, or a modern boiler in the same footprint.
- Circulator pumps, zone valves, expansion tanks, aquastats
- Bleeding and rebalancing loops so every room actually heats
- High-efficiency and combi replacements when repair stops paying
- Upfront pricing approved before anything comes apart
Every boiler call, done the Advantage way.
Real Diagnosis
We find the actual fault in the loop, not just the symptom in the room you noticed.
Steam & Hot Water
Gravity conversions, modern closed loops, in-floor, combi units that do heat and hot water.
Plumbers On Staff
A boiler is heating and plumbing at once. Six plumbers on staff ride with our HVAC crews.
Safety Check Included
Pressure relief, venting, and CO checks on every call, because these systems run hot for months.
Clean Work
Boot covers on, mess gone. Old boiler rooms are tight and dusty. We leave them better.
Honest Replace Advice
If replacement beats repair, you see both numbers with financing options. Your call, not our pitch.
What a boiler does before it quits
Cold radiators
All cold, or cold at the bottom: circulation or sludge, either way fixable.
Kettling and rumbling
A boiler that sounds like a tea kettle has scale on the heat exchanger.
Pressure keeps dropping
Repeatedly topping up the pressure means a leak somewhere in the loop.
Water under the boiler
Even a small puddle deserves a same-week look.
Pilot or ignition trouble
Lockouts and relights that keep happening are telling you something.
Air in the lines
Gurgling pipes and radiators that need constant bleeding point at a system issue.
Boilers rarely die without warning. They grumble first. Request service or call (715) 817-4404.
Neighbors who made the same call
"Had a cold climate heat pump installed with gas furnace backup. I received 3 bids and Advantage Air had the best price without artificially lowering it with rebates. They were on time, removed the old oil furnace, coordinated all the electrical work, and did a great job explaining the new technology."
Boiler techs where the old houses are
Asked from a lot of old basements
Much of this housing stock went up before forced air was standard, so hot water heat with cast iron radiators was simply how homes were built. Those systems last a long time when they are maintained, which is why so many are still running.
Usually trapped air or an unbalanced loop, and both are fixable without replacing anything. Bleeding and rebalancing a system is a routine visit for us. If a circulator pump or zone valve has failed, we will show you which one.
Usually not just for the sake of it. Converting means running all new ductwork through a house that has none, which is expensive and invasive. A modern high-efficiency boiler often makes far more sense, and we will give you both numbers honestly.
Old cast iron units regularly run 30 to 50 years. Modern high-efficiency units are more like 15 to 20 but burn far less fuel. Annual service matters more on a boiler than almost any other appliance in the house.
Cold radiators? Let's fix that.
